How To Manually Fix Help

Problem:    Help won't display.  When you either press the F1 key or click Help on the menu system a 'Can't find' error message is displayed.

Operating Systems:    Windows 98, 2000, XP, ME

Note:    First you must make sure that your operating system is fully up to date.  To get the latest updates from Microsoft go to http://update.microsoft.com/windowsupdate.

Solution:    Sometimes when this problem occurs the Windows operating system will ask you if you would like to locate the help file.  If this occurs click the browse option, locate the SuperKey2000 installation directory and click OK.  This will write the help file location in the Windows registry.  If this fails go on to the next solution.

Solution:    This solution requires that you make changes directly in the Windows system registry.  Follow the instructions exactly and do not delete anything from the registry as this could cause programs to stop operating.

1. Locate and start the 'RegEdit.exe' program.  It is typically located in the C:\Windows\System32 directory.
2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Help
3. Right click 'Help' in the left pane and select 'Add new string value'
4. Name the new string value 'superkey.hlp' - click ok when your done
5. Double click the newly created string value in the right pane.
6. Enter the physical location of the 'superkey.hlp' file in the data field. For example C:\SuperKey2000 ....
7. Close the registry.  You will need to reboot your computer for the help file to be found.
